Somebody great once said- Love knows no bounds, and that is part reason why we celebrate this love-filled holiday on February 14. A great martyr, Saint Valentine against a Roman Emperor’s decree performed weddings for young soldiers who are forbidden to love, and this is just one great legend, there are a lot more other martyrdom stories around why we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day today is all about all kinds of love, but what does even love mean? Is there only an absolute and an all-pervasive definition to love? Ugh, confusing, isn’t it? Most of us are usually very certain in our lives, we have this need to put all that we understand into black or white, right or wrong, yes or no, but when it comes to love nobody has aced it yet, no perfect definition, no right or wrong, just grey areas, that’s where love buds. There is no right way to love and to be loved, or who and how to love. We’re all just navigating our way through love, we explore a new paradigm of love every now and then.
‘Love is love’ or ‘free love’ movement started around the 19th century and this movement is about love; human love. Whether you identify as lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, sexual, non-sexual, or straight, this movement was created to embrace and perpetuate that love that focuses on consensual relationships.
